Mt. Hood climb delayed

I had to make a tough decision this morning to delay tonight's Mt. Hood climb. After receiving a call from Geoff - our guide - I learned the Northwest Weather and Avalanche Center (NWAC) was urging caution at higher elevations due to the large amount of late season snow.

Timberline received 24" of snow over the past few days with the possibility even larger accumulations occurred up towards the summit. Geoff thought the ascent might be okay, but we could run into trouble on the way down. By waiting two weeks, we'll be able to take another stab at it with an increased likelihood of success (and safety).

This is disappointing - but it's the right call. There's no reason to take the risk. And if we went and had to turn back, we'd be out our guiding fees. By waiting, we can make another attempt at no additional charge.
